Kreuzberg California Position Overview
We seek out individuals who are passionate about coffee, drink coffee daily, and love to serve coffee to others. Baristas greet customers, answer questions, take orders, and accept payments, as well as prepare coffee, espresso drinks, and beer and wine. Baristas also complete daily cleaning and stocking tasks to maintain a professional workspace and customer dining area. Baristas are expected to continually expand their knowledge of the specialty coffee industry in all areas, including quality control, preparation, and presentation.

Barista Responsibilities
Welcoming customers, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments
Preparing coffee, espresso drinks, and a handful of food items (pastries and breakfast burritos), and presenting them to customers
Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils
Learning about brewing methods, espresso extraction, and presentation techniques to improve food quality
Restocking items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter
Working as part of a fun, high-energy team
Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred
Third-wave coffee experience or knowledge (specialty espresso, pour-over, latte art) strongly preferred
Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation
Exceptional listening and communication skills
Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods
Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
A polite, engaging personality
Commitment to customer satisfaction and a killer customer service experience
Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment
Must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week; full-time staff preferred when available
Must be able to lift 40 lbs
What We Offer
California does not have a tip credit, so all employees earn the full prevailing minimum wage
Cash tips are kept by members of a shift
Credit card tips are split by hours worked daily and come on your paycheck
